I was hauling hickory logs yesterday with the B26. I had the grapple bucke on and was having a good day. It was a real nice day here in eastern PA.

Somehow one of the two handles that engage the lower pins to hold the bucket to the skid steer brackets got moved up. I picked up a large log and it didn't go so well. I bent the crap out of the side that was still engaged. Dropped the load and did some cussing. After a little calm thought I went in search of a tree. Whit the grapple bucket off I was able to bend the thing back into position.

Anyone else ever have this happen cause it is the second time for me. The first time there was no damage. I am thinking I need to make some kind of latches to keep these handles in position. My neighbor suggested a pipe between the two handles with a pin. Which seemed like a good idea.

Anybody else?

Hi Don

I think there are springs under the pivot bolts for the SSQA handles to provide some tension. Have you tried tightening those a bit to put a little more friction into the handle movement?

I grease my B26 and the SSQA fittings every 10 hours and I have noticed that with nothing on the SSQA (ie moving around when changing attachments) it does not take much of a bump for the handles to move but I have never had them move once an attachment is on. I have seen guys with skid steers that have not greased their SSQA fittings beating the handles with hammers in order to change attachments.

I have stupidly made the mistake a couple of times of picking something up "temporary" and then being lazy have not locked the handles. I then forgot the handles were not locked have dumped my load and the front bucket into my trailer once and a dumpster a second time! I think I have now cured myself of that paricular laziness but only time will tell!

Thanks I will check the bolts under the pivot bolts. I suspect that when I am working with brush the handle is getting pushed up by the brush.

After looking at the handles some more I don't thing a pipe between the handles will work because they point down somewhat. I will probably use some flat stock with two holes and drill holes in the handles.
