I have a tractor that uses the skid steer quick attach mounting system on the end of the loader. I want to make a snow plow for the tractor similar to this one HERE . I can buy a quick attach plate for around 200 beans but they look so simple to make. I don't have the exact dimensions. I need a one that looks like THIS .

Does anyone know where I can find the specs of the plate? The plan is to buy a old Meyers, Weston, ect snowplow from a truck, and adapt it to the plate. Should be a fairly simple project. If anyone has any similar experience doing this, I'd love to hear any suggestions also.

Hope this is what you are looking for. SAE J2513 standard.

That should work. Thank you very much!

Those plates were being sold on ebay for $89.00 each. I don't remember what the store was but that was the "buy it now" price. They shipped them to Cincinnati, OH for $25.00.

Good Luck!

I've seen the same thing on Ebay, hardly worth the effort to make if you can get that price...

Anybody have more detail for the tractor side? I have never used one and it is not quite clear how it works on the tractor side.

Thanks,
Charles

What kind of info do you need charlz? If your loader is equipped to handle skid steer quick attach attachments, This is simply a plate that easily attaches to your loader. You can retrofit old attachments or in my case fab attachments to the plate.

My loader is not quick attach and old enough that no one makes one for it. The 'universal fit' ones tend to be way heavier that I would need/want. I can see that the top of the loader side is angled to fit inside the angle of the plate on the attachment... but what happens after that? I see there are levers, do they just push blocks/pins down through the holes on the bottom of the plate and that's it?

Thanks,
Charles

The cheapest one I can find on the internet is $300 without shipping. If you know where I can find one cheaper please let me know. I'm converting my tractor this spring.

Dangerdoc,

We may be talking about two different things. I think you talking about converting your tractor to accept the quick attach plates. The 89 dollars is for the plate itself.

Here is a pic of the end of my loader. I only need to buy the plate (see the pics in my first post) and weld on a attachment.

I have an actual front attach off of a skid steer that I purchased to adapt my tractor to this syatem. My wife however talked me into buying a universal mount type. It is not as heavy as the universal mount I bought but needs the pins and arms to be a workable unit. I paid 50.00 for it and would be happy to get it back.

This is the tractor side of the quick attach and would require some fabrication to mount up.

I ended up buying the pre built unit and while I definately see some manufacturer issues, I am happy with the unit. It is kinda heavy but on my 57hp international it is not as big of an issue as if I had a compact.

Try Horst welding. That is what I used here.

I cut a sheet of plywood the same size as the opening in my loader bucket, then cut wood blocks with the same angles as my tractor side for the corners. Glued these in place on the corners. This became a jig for welding. To make a bobtatch for an attchment I clamp the plywod to the attachment, clamp four strips of steel to the jig, and start welding. Before clamping the bottom strip I cut the two notches for the retaining pins.

This method keeps the parts aligned and square.

The bottom line is, use your bob-tatch bucket as a female pattern, make a male jig of steel or wood that just fits into your bobtatch opening, then use the male jig to hold your parts as you weld them to your new attachment.

Sorry, no pictures.

So, if I read the right, you just use the top and bottom pieces that are on an angle? skipping the big, heavy, flat plate? I guess this would work with implements that have a flat back on them and cut out some weight.

Well, depends on the implement.

This one required a few extra pieces of metal. This thing lets me put 3pt stuff on the FEL frame. I clamped the jig to the I-match hitch, and added the strips of metal.

The beauty of the jig is that you spend much less time measuring and checking for square, etc. You measure and make the jig one time, and after that every project you make fits perfect.

Do you have anymore pics or info on the "male" end of the quick attach.
I was looking to buy one but so far the cheapest price is $750. and to me that doesn't seem so cheap.
They do look that hard to make [last famous words:D ]

Thanks Shane
