Skid steer fire.

My 75-3 Kubota caught on fire today. The engine bay on this machine was completely clean. It’s never even been in the woods before. It flashed an error code about the injectors and a minute or so later and it was in flames. It had 55 hours on it. I suspect there was a crack in a high pressure line to the Injectors and fuel flashed at the exhaust manifold. Sorry for your loss.

Looks like there were four Error Code Messages. But that Exclamation Mark in RED might have meant 'SHUT ER DOWN FREDDY!

Was it running went it burst into flames? Or had you shut the engine off?

Yikes! That is a scary one, glad everyone is OK, machines can be replaced..........

Scary stuff! Have you contacted your dealer? Kubota will employ a fire investigator and he/she will want to look at it (I know JD does). They may want to ship it to their facility as well. The dealer will contact the factory and get things rolling.

You know, it could have been Bad, don't remember what style door the Kubota has, but if you have the bucket at wrong location, with a swing out door, and had to get out quickly...
All skid steers have an escape hatch in the roof. Flip that puppy up and climb out the top.

Hmm, I know it's an older machine, but a CAT-257 does not have an escape hatch (or atleast the older ones didnt). I think it was a Cat-257B model, but don't hold me to that.

I’ve never seen an escape hatch in the roof. They have an escape back window that involves crawling over the back hatch which is also usually where the fire starts. This machine went up fast. You’d have probably been able to escape without serious burns but if the fire went unnoticed for another minute the outcome could be different.

It shut itself down when it threw the error message and burst into flames shortly after.

I think I've used Bobcat, Deere, Cat, Gehl, and Possitrac, oh, and Takucki and I don't think I've ever seen an escape hatch in the roof. They do have back glass, but that's pretty dang small, and would involve kicking it out, and crawling back over everything. I'm guess at most a 12"x24" window? Everyone I've used, the top had a metal grid to protect against falling debris, and not a hinged or blow out kinda hatch. It might be something new, as these are pretty much all 2000-2010 time frame.

Google reveals that ASV has a replacement part for an escape hatch, so atleast some of them do have it?
