Site performance issues

I have to type in a post, copy, hit submit and it asks if I want to leave page and if I say no, nothing happens, if I do, my text goes away and defaults to advanced with this message "The following errors occurred with your submission The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters"then I paste and hit submit again.

For what it may be worth ... I just submitted a support ticket concerning the time-outs and slow response.

for me, it's been doing hte question ask thing ( do you want to leave ).. for quite a while now. result is usually a doubled message or no message.. depending on what i choose.

when it acts up the most.. like slow laods or 503 errors.. I have found it's best to just go away for like 10m and check back... too frustrating otherwise.

This usually happens to me in the evenings. I get errors trying to view pictures and sometimes the infamous 503 message. I figure it's probably a peak time on the server that host this site. Or the server is under another one of those cyber attacks where more request received than it can output thus a lockup or bog down. If all sites did that then I could blame my provider. No big deal.

Happens to me too, sometimes in the very wee hours of the morning. Slow to load, and timing out, etc.

Slow to load, slow to open, wont accept post, site wont come up-just freezes the computer for minutes at a time. Something has to be done before it gets so frustrating that folks just done visit the site anymore. 15 or more seconds of watching an ad run before the site opens is BS also, let the ads run, but don't hold opening the site till they finish running and every time you open a new thread, have to go thru the S.O.S. again.
I can see folks leaving by the busloads based on number of folks online when I sign on, used to be thousands, now lucky to be 500 on line at any one time.

Admin has been to the thread. No real answers. Is the site under an attack of some sort? It seems to be very "peaky". Fine at some times, timeouts and overall slow response at others.

It would be nice to have some sort of comment from management. If its an attack, I can totally understand.

The membership is so vast and the people online at the same time is sometimes staggering. Muhammad may have to get more bandwidth. It's very spotty so I'm not complaining. If it goes on for more than an hour I might mention it so see if someone knows what's up. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes we don't know about. Some of that black ops cyber stuff. Like adding more smileys. :smile:

Was reading in a site where the sun spots are intense at this period casing failure of Sat. signals.
Notice your tv signal strength to go from 70/ 80 to 6 / 8 then freeze and stall.
cell phones other talking in the back ground.
Like all things time will tell.

There is a time of the year where the sun lines up with satellites and briefly washes them out. I've watched that happen years ago when I had a big dish in the yard. We also could be in the peak of the 11 year solar cycle. I used to talk all over the globe on a regular cb radio, slightly modified though.

Might not be bandwidth, but server caused... Could be time to upgrade the server.
