simplicty 8hp

i have an 8 yr old simplicty, which i let a friend use for the season. i have a quad w/ blade. anyways he calls me and says that it starts, but when he engages the auger, it bogs down and dies. i asked him if he checked the gear oil, but he is not sure were that is, lol, does anyone know why the auger would bin up, he tells me the belt looks fine, thanks for any help!!!!!!!!

I have an old Simplicity. 30 years old at least. When it's not running and the auger is not engaged, it (the auger) spins freely. Maybe a bearing is shot. Welcome to TBN. Jake
