I made a 20 wide X 16 inch deep table for my splitter from some scraps of angle and flat stock I had. I wanted the table removable so I welded two mounting ears to the splitter and attached the table to them with two bolts. The top is just a piece of scrap 5/8" CDX plywood with a 16 gauge (1/16") steel skin glued on with Gorrilla glue.

Nice idea. My shop workbench has lasted for years with the addition of the metal over wood. Grapple has me wanting.

I am also thinking of a table for my splitter. but I need one on the end to catch the wood as it slides past the wedge. Thanks for the idea, wood is cheaper than metal, and I have the wood already.

Here is a simple design of a wood and metal out feed table that is removable,,

Nicely done, Gordon.
You just don't see O/A fusion welds much these days.
It's becoming a lost art.
I need to do something similar with my splitter to reduce the amount of material handling I'm doing with big rounds.

Why did you need to make it removable? I welded a 1/4 inch table to each side of my splitter when I got it.

Thanks to you, this is my rendition of a cradle / table.... This is only my second welding task ever. Thus far I am happy with the design. I hope it works.
