Shooting a Woodpecker.

My team and I ate one once, roasted over open fire, 40-odd years ago during survival/capture and evade training. Can't say I'd recommend it. But we hadn't eaten anything for 3 days, and "managed" it.
No different than the Donner party, but they were past 3 days without eating.

Just don't ask what you're eating and convince yourself it taste like badly prepared chicken.

So how does everyone feel about porcupines? Hot sauce them ?
If they are around my house they die. Porcupines and skunks are a bad combination. Otherwise, I've developed an attitude of "Leave me and my things alone, I'll leave you alone."

I've been told that Porkies have a very big liver and are good to have around in a survival situation, as you can easily kill them.
