I hadn't broken a shear pin on my BX2750 in over 2 years. Over the last 2 days I've broken 3 including (for the first time in 9 years) the fan's shear pin. In breaking the fan's shear pin I was surprised at how much damage was inflicted before the shear pin gave way. One of the fan blades was bent out and caught the lip on the housing bending that in. I managed to bend things back into shape and get things turning smoothly again. I didn't have a shear pin for the fan so I stopped by the dealer and picked up a couple -- 72 cents apiece. I didn't have any cash with me and couldn't see putting a charge through for 1.44 so I looked around for something else to buy and found a nice Kubota BX hat. Got back to the house and fumbled with tightening the shear pin on the fan. Got everything together and headed down to clear the drifting snow at the bottom of my driveway. Must have been 2 minutes into it when bam -- rock -- 3rd shear pin in 2 days. This was just the left side auger so I finished the job with the right side of the blower and put the tractor away.
I'll deal with that other shear pin tomorrow (I have a good supply of the auger shear pins.)
