I have seen a lowbed occasionally, hauling a skidder with the blade up and no chains golding it onto the trailer. I've been told that the driver was chaining down one day and something happened; either his cheater bar slipped or a chain snapped and he got hit in the head, which almost killed him. I'm not sure how long he'll be able to get away with it.

I see a chain only on the tiller. hmmm.

The Jeep is the inline-6 or the hemi, no problem for towing. What's holding the tractor down ????
The hemi has the lowest towing capacity of the Jeep line up at 3500lbs….

But you can see the exhaust tips. “Yea it’s gotta hemi”

That's weird. It must be the Jeep frame isn't rated then. The Hemi pulls stuff like there is nothing there. My RAM does 14,000lbs.

I love how those tie downs are shown. LOL

The Jeeps have really low tow ratings due to the Wheelbase and braking power - I believe 3500 is the highest tow rating and only on a 4 door. I have a 285hp v6 in my 2Dr but am rated at 2000 and honestly, it is not great at 2K. I will only tow my ATV and Alum trailer with mine, anything about that HD truck comes out.

Here is the max per engine with the long wheelbase 4 Door.

3.6L Pentastar V6 Engine

  • Towing Capacity: 3,500 lbs
  • Max Payload: 1,351 lbs
  • Horsepower: 285 hp
  • Torque: 260 lb-ft

2.0L I-4 Turbo Engine

  • Towing Capacity: 3,500 lbs
  • Max. Payload: 1,351 lbs
  • Horsepower: 270 hp
  • Torque: 295 lb-ft

2.0L I-4 PHEV Turbo Engine

  • Towing Capacity: 3,500 lbs
  • Max. Payload: 1,351 lbs
  • Horsepower: 375 hp
  • Torque: 470 lb-ft

6.4L Hemi V8 Engine

  • Towing Capacity: 3,500 lbs
  • Max. Payload: 1,351 lbs
  • Horsepower: 470 hp
  • Torque: 470 lb-ft

That "tiny utility trailer" which is actually a machinery transport trailer is rated at 7700 lbs gross weight, believe it or not and weights about 1200 to 1300 lbs, so it's not overloaded by any means.

The tie downs, sure, those can be debatable.

Jeep announced 5000 pound capacity for 2024 for the auto 3.6 and 2.0t motor and produced some marketing material with that number. But then printed all the specs that came with the vehicles with 3500. It is causing an uproar and someone will probably sue.

But the Jeep shown in that photo was likely not a 2024.

Before I grew up and became a man I had a CJ 7 and I used to tow my landscape trailer with my 8N and mower or back box all over Indiana, it wasn’t the most stable vehicle in the world but honestly, I never had a single issue with it, with thousands of miles put on it

Actually I think it is. But how would you know? It doesn’t matter since the 392 was never gonna be 5000 towing anyway. I was just commenting on @Code54 post about 3500 for all JLUs.

I don't know, was just playing the odds based on median and average age of US vehicles on the road today.

Agreed.
Ah, jeep shut down MY23 early last year. MY24s have been out a while. They ran out of 392s by mid year 2023.

Trailer's got a nice 'swoop' in the deck, the added beavertail is a bonus. Only good thing to say about that pic is the truck's not squatting, why....I have no idea.

Skid steer in the rear is counter balancing the load on the front of the trailer.

Either way, it is still rated for 3500 lbs and that was what I was pointing out. Misprint, error, overseas rating, no idea where the 5K came from but for now it its only 3500 on Jeep's official page. I have no doubt it could tow more but stopping and turning could be a bit rough in an emergency situation.
