I have seen a lot of campers with broken springs. Kind of makes me wonder if they are trying extra hard to cut into production costs and making people unsafe while doing it.
My old camper had a lot more spring than any I have seen in the last maybe 10 years.

It probably has more to do with the quality of the steel. We run a fleet of truck for work, and for a few years GM products were constantly breaking springs. We generally get a new truck every 3 years, in that time at least one side in every truck had been replaced. The local power company was having similar problems.

I had them replaced in two trucks in a row, but haven't had a problem since.
