I think often containers have to be relashed. With thousands of containers and increasingly reduced staff, I can't even imagine that is possible.

As for Suez. Read 400 million/hour in losses. Curious if they don't require pilots. One account says wind, another says blackout on board (Don't tell me the Yanmar Gensets failed).

Oh, the TRAPS humans set for themselves! Actually (of course) many are saying it wasn't an accident and serves some other nefarious purpose.

The center section has been doubled and it looks like there are preparations for doubling along the single sections.

I can't believe they don't have a contingency plan for this kind of thing, even if it's never happened before. It sounds like they got caught totally off guard and are just flinging stuff at the wall.

Storms of that size do not just pop up out of nowhere. I have to believe these days there is plenty of weather data out there so it would appear that they tried pushing the limit to make schedule. They could gave held back.
Quite the assumptions there.

My guess is going forward there will be a limit in the size/length of ships allowed to pass thru. Having a ship that if it goes vertical can block the entire canal was a disaster waiting to happen.

I wonder how much bigger ships have become v. when the canal was built?

Used to be the standard I believe was what they called Panamax, maybe 1000 foot. That Evergreen Vessle is 1200 feet or something like that.

Kind of reminds me of the Concordia disaster/stupidity. Costliest salvage ever, apparently.

Seems to me, that the benefits of technology in our lives has long since hit it's peak for rewardand is starting to be more costly in the end.

Could very well be. remember, time is money so shorten the time, make more revenue and use less fuel too. Lots of ships and cargo has been lost over the years by skippers taking chances.

I don't see the problem, they have the required flag on the end.

PS; That CAN'T be real, nobody is that ignorant... are they?
Why of course they are. I have to wonder, that van is front wheel drive. I wonder if the front wheels are even on the ground.

Lots of stupid people out there, just look around, I'm sure you will see some.

I just wonder how they got it inside.
