If you resemble it, does that mean you usually wear high heels?

Anyway, I'd get a tractor and fix the driveway so I wouldn't need a lifted pickup to traverse it.
It is a play on words of the common expression, “I resent that remark,” in response to an insult or snide, judgmental comment. “I resemble that remark,” simply takes ownership of a comment, identifying with it as a resemblance your own being.

You must be a young ignorant whipper snapper that grew up in a closet satisfying himself with Legos or something not to know what it means. Sorry you had such a poor life but don't take it out on everyone else.

I remember the days when someone could read a play on words and understand the meaning without explanation

I started taking drum lessons from an old jazz drummer when I was 8 years old, and one of the tunes we played was named "Innuendo". He always referred to that song as "the Spanish suppository", and I have to admit I was probably about 12 by the time I got it. :D

I suspect no one on this forum is under 12, Tinhack's implication should have been obvious.

Well, it hasn't been all poor, thankfully, but I guess I could blame not knowing the intricasies of the English language on being an import and consequently unaware of many things.

To me, "resemble that remark" was simply similar to people saying "could of" instead of "could have". Or "I could care less" when they mean "I couldn't care less".

Read the comic Garfield, it's in practically every newspaper everyday. It will help your english and it has a little sarcasm thrown in occasionally to make it funny.

Here the tow company makes good money towing dead EVs.

Not that there's a lot of gas stations around, but there are no charging stations. Also, I suspect that many EV drivers severely underestimate what gaining several thousands of feet in elevation does to the range.

I'm not an EV evangelist and have a (worked) F350, but I have to ask

just what is it that you think that gaining several thousands of feet in elevation does to range? Climbing up hills obviously takes more power than rolling on flats, yes, so I'm desperately hoping here that you just mean the total amount climbed, not that high elevation affects EVs somehow (unlike ICE - and yes I'm including turbos in this, though the turbo does mitigate the effects it doesn't entirely remove them).

I do indeed mean gaining some 3,000 feet in elevation, most of it along one long grade.

Leaving here I can often see higher distance to empty numbers displayed by both gassers and diesels after over 70 miles of driving, but needless to say, the indicated mpg and DTE take a corresponding hit going back home again.

Since it takes a certain amount of energy to perform a given task, I see no reason to why an EV wouldn't react similarly.

Just yesterday I thought that if I lived down at 5,000' and did the trips in reverse order an EV would likely fare much better. Then it could regenerate on the way back down. As it is, if starting with one fully charged, the downhill travel wouldn't do it much good.

By the way, not that I know why, but for whatever reason our supercharged and turbo charged vehicles seem to get better mileage than people driving similar ones at lower altitudes.

Driving style? I can get 26 or better with my Colorado but generally it's around 23, sometimes as low as 18 on the interstate. It all depends on my right foot.

I get better mileage driving country roads versus interstate and city driving.

It's all country roads up to where my family lives in northern Arkansas.

I usually average 2mpg better doing that trip versus my commute to work which is half back roads and then interstate.

Granted the trip up north is rolling hills and I'm traveling at a more sedate pace.

Going to and from work I'm usually flogging the truck pretty good

No, if anything my driving style should result in dismal mileage.

For example, I tend to get just over 22 mpg in my Challenger and generally drive it at 90-100 mph. Then, when catching up with someone, I can't resist flooring it when passing just to hear the glorious sound from the exhaust. Well, that and the few passing possibilities aren't overly long.

Meanwhile, my girlfriend consistently gets a bit over 24 mpg in her Redeye, but she drives 10-20 mph slower than I do and doesn't pass as aggressively. Heck, I've seen over 17 mpg on the Lie-O-Meter in her TRX. Not keeping a log on that one I don't know what it really gets, but apparently that's quite high.

Anyway, that's with all miles being at 5,000 to 8,000 feet or higher, with the majority being on twisty 2-laners. I suspect that basically always being in top gear helps, and of course that there are no stoplights and such for the very most part.

Now, in comparison, my V6 Challenger doesn't get quite the mileage it should (in my mind) even though I drive it a bit slower. Partially because it downshifts to 5th on some hills (unlike the 'Cat which tends to stay in 8th), and surely also because it's gasping for air being naturally aspirated.

Hey, I'm certainly not complaining about the mpgs we get, but it really seems like the higher altitude helps...somehow.
