I just think, if someone hurts or kills somone whether it be with a firearm or improperly loaded vehicle, THEN throw the book at them. Make an example out of them for others to see and learn from. Until then, just leave people pretty much the ##$# alone! ALL these people that just like to CONTROL others! Nanny state, Police state, whatever.

And I believe stupidity is still just stupidity!

Where does ignorance stop and stupidity start? Matters too about IQ of the individual I guess, but hey, we are all exactly equal, so that can't figure into it.

"leave people pretty much the ##$# alone"

I did not think that @&## was allowed to be spelled ##$#,, spelling is importent to show ones IQ,,
ALL spelling must be correcg,, even implied spelling,, or we can not grasp your conceppto. :confused2:

 :D

Back to hauling,, I have been researching these concrete headwalls, I thought they were culvert inlets,,
but, the hole is sized for 6 inch plastic pipe,, There is even a slot, to hold expanded metal.
With expanded metal in the slot, animals can not go back into the pipe.
The guy that sold them to me even gave me the expanded metal pre-cut blanks that fit the slot.
It is not an inlet,, it is a concrete precast OUTLET headwall, such as a roof drain outlet for a large building , like a shopping mall.

That is why it is sized for only 6 inch pipe.

My research has determined that these headwalls weigh at least 2,100 pounds each,,
I hauled 5 of them in my 9,999 pound capacity trailer,, a couple years ago.
My question is;
Should I have moved the spare tires, and the jack stands to the bed of the pickup??

No, you should have put them all in the bed of your pickup to save the wear on your trailer. In your case you were over loaded but not by much. In my opinion not a big deal. The guy with the suburban and 80,000 pounds of landscape blocks is so ever weight it’s dangerous.

I'd have alternated them so the weight was better distributed side to side.

You should have removed the spares and jack stands before you raised the bed to dump the precast outlets.

I will say tires set on edge roll fairly easily with a trailor in movement and it takes surprisingly little for one to bounce out. Learned the usual way, but never had to learn it twice. Just info for those that might be interested

People can overload and mishandle their equipment all they want to. They bought it, maintain it, repair it. The problem is when equipment is being used improperly on PUBLIC access ways. Increased danger to a public that should not have to worry about it. Also for those that spend the money and effort to buy and use equipment within its capabilities and legally and then have to deal with and compete with those that do not its a bit of a pisser.

Right on!

It's all fun and games till the thing break the hitch or blow a tire, then swerves into the opposite lane and kills one of your family members. Then the opinion of "leaving people alone", just gets an entire new meaning.

Interesting discussion.
If our brick towing friend was going slow enough and he was not over weight for the road, what is the big deal. Stopping might be an issue but once again if he is going slow enough. It is his truck and trailer if he breaks it? If the tong on the trailer breaks I would think it would stop pretty fast. Is there another vehicle in front that could help with braking? Now if he was going any faster than a walk......
Blaming the guy that loaded, there's a rabbit hole for you.......
I have done stuff like that you can do it safely.
My best guess he's an idiot, make two trips.

Kind of like saying a loaded gun should be illegal because it "CAN" kill someone.

If the loaded gun randomly fired itself on a crowded roadway, yes this would be analogous.

The POINT is that his equipment could fail dramatically at any time. These accidents DO HAPPEN, so no, someone getting away with it once does not make it ok. Ever.
