Had an over height excavator loaded with the boom too high, hit and took down a walk bridge over the Baltimore beltway some years ago. Politicians immediately went after the driver, until it was discovered their union boys down at the harbor was responsible for miss loading the load, then they shut up.

So even if it does cause an accident, it depends on politics on how or if charges get filed.

Yeah, really at the end of the day, if something happens and it gets to court (maybe six years later) , nothing that really figured into the accident will be addressed anyway.

AND, for what it's worth, I have loaded something sketchy, thought better of it, but taken a picture for fun, and corrected it. Who knows how many such pictures end up on here, with people getting so freaked out.
Criminal charges don't take 6 years to get to court. Charges are filed within a few weeks.

My mom's accident (law suit) trial took longer than that to get to court. My lady friend is just engaged in a slip and fall suit after about five years for a condo she doesn't even manage any more. The contractor isn't even the same anymore and his employees are gone from that time. What's the point? Except for the lawyers to bill, bill, bll?

Maybe that Suburban driver has a farm exemption, that seems to make sketchy loads "OK" in a lot of areas.

Honestly I question how much weight is actually on the tongue, that era of leaf springs on 1/2t suburbans and tahoes are notoriously soft with some age on them.
Doesn't take much to make them look overloaded.

its not the springs I think about, its the actual load and placement of the load.

A brick pallet is AT LEAST2,000 pounds up to 3,500 lbs.

Either end of that scale makes it totally stoopid to haul!

Some of you sound like drunks I've known, who say they should just be allowed to pay the fine and keep on driving, without learning anything. The trucker who killed my uncle and pregnant aunt back years ago (1964) had 3 previous fatalities, and went on to have two more major accidents before finally getting killed himself. That's one reason we have some of the laws we have.
