Shade Canopy Removal

An AG Meier Shade Canopy is on my recently delivered JD 1025. I want to remove it but it is very heavy. Removing the eight bolts on the two brackets holding the canopy to the ROPS will be no problem, but, given the weight of the canopy (it's got to be 100-150 lbs) I don't know if it's best to try to remove the brackets while the canopy is in the deployed position, or take the pins out of the ROPS and fold it backwards with the canopy still affixed. Either way, I've got to devise a way to handle the weight of the canopy after the mounting brackets and bolts are removed.

The canopy came with NO instructions or training from JD dealer. I can't find anything helpful on the AG Meier website, either. Trying to avoid having to get a whole crew of extra guys to help me.

Has anyone else confronted this obstacle, and how did you solve it? Thanks.

Do you have access to rafters or trusses in your garage or barn? If so, make a couple of loops with ratchet straps to cradle it. Unbolt and drive away. You might even be able to then ratchet it tight to the bottom of the rafters/trusses for storage.

Zebrafive, thanks, that's a great idea. I don't have rafters or trusses available, but there is a likely tree branch of the right height and location that might serve. When I get my large garage built I may use your idea of suspension as storage!

Zebra Five, your idea plus the tree branch worked like a charm in getting the canop off. Will reverse the process to re-install. Thanks.

Spindifferent, I've removed the canopy to allow me to mow under some low-hanging trees and want to keep it. But thanks for the offer of help and let me return the offer. If I can ever give you a hand, let me know. I'm a novice but learning quickly and have been accumulating some useful tools.
