I am trying to find a way so i can to hear this little yo yo of a turbo on this 4 banger. i am guessing there is a not a silencer ring but i am going to find out. my neighbors 7040 got a better whistle than this 8540 but i think he has the new tier3.

Straight pipe it, then you'll hear some turbo whistle.

good choice.
kubota models tend to be light on their feet. for general utility use, i feel this model (& up) is adequately matched for HP w/frame & weight. you will have plenty of PTO hp & guts up front in the fel. I feel the engine design is superior over 7040's (had one)
some like the grand L/hst and they have their place. but my 8540 is a keeper for a single use utility tractor, u won't look back

Agree with big bubba, I love the M8540 as it is a really versatile tractor. I may be hard of hearing, but I don't hear the turbo either.

Of course I also love my Grand L5030 too.
