Serial Number Breakdown

Help.....
On my 4210 the serial number is mounted on the right front frame. In my automotive days, the serial number has told the details of the design of the car & I'm thinking that the serial number should give me the details on my tractor but I don't know the sequence on how to read the serial number. I have looked in my manuals & didn't have any luck on JDParts.com so your help would be appreciated. My number goes like this: #LV4210H******. Can someone explain or give me a link to how to "read" the specifics of the serial number ??? Thanks....Eric

LV = Factory, in this case Augusta, GA
4210 = your model
H = Hydrostatic transmission
###### = your tractors unique serial number (sequencial)

First digit indicates the fiscal/model year of production in the case of a 4210, if first digit is 2 = 2003, 3= 2004, 4=2005 (which just started on Nov 1). The rest is just a number that is assigned sequentially to each tractor coming down the line. (ie. 201345 would have been built in the 03 fiscal year and would have been number 1345 built that year)

NJ, I hope it doesn't seem like I'm beating a dead horse but is there more info available from the last six numbers or are they just production numbers ?? Can I tell the manufacture date of my tractor from these numbers and also any other info ?? Is there a spot at deere.com where I could find the breakdown info ?? Thanks, Bud....Eric

I have a serial number off of a JD tractor. I think it is t a 4020 or 4320 can you tell by this serial number?? Here is the serial number: t613r 010321r Thanks!

Also, a pic of the tractor?

Both will help.

You can go to tractordata.com and get the wheelbase info, as well as other info, and make a check to see if you have a 4020 or a 4320.

rainmaker7407, from what I can gather at Forty-Twenty.com, if I'm not mistaken, I think it breaks down as this:

T = basic tractor
6 = 4320
1 = row crop
3 = diesel
R = Syncro-Range
010321 = actual serial number of tractor
R = Waterloo, Iowa.

I think it's a 1972 model.

So would a JD tractor Serial Number LV4520H441111 would be #1111 or #41111 in the fourth run series (2005)?

I know the "H" is eHydro.

John Deere never uses a letter "O" in a serial number. It is always a zero.

Hi I also need assistance , the tractor is located in the philippines. I just bought a john deere 4020 hfwd I need assistnace on the serial number posted at the back near the PTO is t213R 262552r . likewise the engine posted 6404dr01315167r. trying to input the serial number however website states that it should be 13

I have a john deere 2120 Tractor When I bought the tractor I was told it was an early 60's But everywhere I check it says the 2120 was made 1969-1970 I believe. My serial # is 030772L
