Select O Speed Bands

I have two ford 4000 tractors with the sos transmission. The first has a marginal #1 band and the second "donor" has all three bad bands. Has anyone tried resurfacing the bands? What is the material and original thickness? I think its a carbon metalic by looks but I have no idea on the original thickness. I am thinking on trying, but if it failes could be expensive. SOS parts are getting rare. I have both tractor split and have good bearings and clutch packs just need bands.

Not cheap.

#1 is over $400 and #2&3 are just under $200 ea. Ouch.

Messick doesnt have any more. New Holland stock is all out, no more in the comoputer system. I did get luck and find a new #1 band and a few other seals from an old tractor mechanic. Still looking for bands 2 and 3.
