Securing a 580c Backhoe?

I remember clearly in 1980, 60 Minutes did an episode on theft of equipment. They clearly showed you how to steal a 580C. I remember being so mad at them for showing people how easy it is.

Best way to prevent theft is to get a stabilizer lock kit. It is a metal sleeve that you put over the exposed cylinder rods when the stabilzers are down. It is a great concept. Kind of like a club for heavy equipment.

If you can't get the stabilzers up, you more likely don't want to steal the machine.

On my Massey Ferguson there is a special pipe lock on the diesel fuel pipe under the bonnet. If you the lock is broken you will need a new bit of pipe to repair it, something most thievs dont have!
