Someone care to recommend a reasonably priced replacement seat for a Ford 1600 diesel. I'm looking for one with armrests that fold up, out of the way and a nice backrest but I'm pretty shocked by the prices. Main concern here however is the likelihood of a generic seat fitting this tractor with no major modifications necessary. My shop skills and and tool collection are pretty limited.

Tractor supply has a decent seat inventory. Use a piece of cardboard and a pencil / ruller to make a template of the seat mount. make some measurements at the pedistal, and across to the fenders for clearance.. and and hand controlls, etc. Then head down to tsc ( or your local tractor / farm store.. etc ).

Northern tool also has many many seats. Wev'e successfully retrofit everything from a semi trucks seat to a JD loader , and a bull dozers seat between TSC and norhtern.. saving hundreds of bucks.

Next idea is a slavage yard.. or how about re-upolstering it? Probably could do it yourself.. I did the seat cushions on my 1950 JD 'B'.. and they look almost oem... for about 12 bucks of material.. foam and vinyl... etc.

I bought a seat from <font color="blue"> this company </font> for my JD 950. Nice seat and very comfortable. Don't know if they have any with folding arm rest or not.

Have you sat in a NH D series seat yet? I'm sure they are not cheap but you get what you pay for as far as I'm concerned. The D model seat can be ordered with armrests and it has floating suspension and swivels to keep an eye on your implement. It really works well at a 45 degree angle when I am using my 3-point snow blower. It is the most comfortable seat that I have ever worked out of bar none. most Good seats are not cheap, i got one for my old ford 2n for about $175 a few years back, very comfortable and just bolted right on. ask the place u buy from and they should be able to tell u if a particular seat will fit your tractor.

The price $175 was a price years (a few) ago. After the "new" grammer style economic seats appeared, prices of such simple seats (not air-ride) have gone down. Same quality seat can be purchased now for much lower prices.
