After changing the engine oil and filter on my 5740 three days ago I'm still cant figure out why it was 3 quarts over full. I let engine warm up pulled drain plug let it drain for over 1 hr. changer filter, refilled with 9.9 quarts of rotella 5 w 40 just like the owners manual says . Started engine turned it off checker oil was 3 quarts over full. Which I have not drained out so the dip stick shows to the full mark. Yes I double checked the amount of oil I used 2 1 gallons jugs and almost 2 quarts. PS this was the second oil change Ive done on this tractor didn't have this problem before. What am I missing ?? any ideals THANKS

Did you open both drain plugs???

I don't know about that model, but my B2710 had two drain plugs so you wouldn't drain it all out unless you removed both.

No I didn't I thought and think that each drain plug does the same thing . The reason for two is just encase you couldn't get to one like with different attachments I could be wrong ???

Sounds just like my B2710, so you certainly had to remove both plugs.

My L3940 is the same. I am not sure how the oil pump pickup works on these. It must pull from both sides I guess.

How much did you drain out originaly, that would tell you how much you can put back. You have to open both drain plugs.
