The soil varies from "squishy" to "concrete" depending on it's moisture content, so having the blade available at the right time is important. I do have one area that I need to remove the top 4" of soil. I will see how the blade works with that (multiple passes). I can always use my tiller to break it up first if I need to.

I'm fairly certain that the top soil will be no problem to deal with. :thumbsup:

The Land Pride RBT35 series blades are a very good all around blade IMO. They and others similar to them are a very good implement for tractors in the 4500lb-9500lb range. Obviously the heavier tractor can get the highest capabilities out of the blade, but they still work very well with the lighter tractors. I know that some day I hope to get an RBT3584 for my 5000lb tractor. :drool:

Unless your soil is actually concrete, if you get the blades mentioned on here that weigh in ~1000 lbs, I can near promise you, you will not need to till first. They will dig and cut. As Brian said, it's all about "how much at a time" and that's a function of your tractor more then the blade (well, to a certain point). I know my blade could dig more/faster with a bigger tractor, the limit is the mule, not the blade itself. If you've seen (as I have) cheapo blades bouncing along the surface unable to cut, well, that's not gonna happen with one of these larger blades. I posted some videos using mine, I think that'll set your mind at ease, no tilling necessary unless your trying to break concrete.
