Is this a scam? Scam?

Found a tractor online that is a great price (maybe too good) and I asked him how the transaction would proceed if we did the deal, this is what he sent me.


Hi again,

The tractor is already at the shipping company in Houston,TX sealed and ready for the shipping. I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. According with eBay you have 15 days from the time you receive the tractor to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. Here is how it will work:
1.First of all I will need the following details from you:
- Full Name
- Full Shipping Address
2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.
3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment.
4.eBay will contact me and I will ship the unit to you. After you receive the tractor you will have 15 days to test, verify and do whatever you need to the tractor. If you will buy, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the money.If you wish to make the transaction, please send me the necessary info so that we can proceed.



Never heard of this before but not the most computer savy either.

if the tractor is not for sale on eBay it is a scam, eBay does not do escrow, they recommend that you use escrow.com, however if the item is not being sold through eBay, they have nothing to do with it...

if it is for sale on eBay, look at the seller and see what thier feedback is and how long they have been around.

overall I would say 70%+ chance of being a scam.

I would say 100% chance of being a scam. These scams are posted on Craigslist very often. They are always the same, saying that you can not see the tractor before you pay for it because it is already at a shipper and they will ship it to you FREE regardless of where you live.

It is always a GREAT deal and people want to believe it is true so badly that some actually send them money, wait for the tractor, and contact ebay (who has nothing to do with it) when it doesn't arrive and find out it is a scam and their money is gone.

It's a scam - Once they get that info, They'll be asking for your checking acct info next, routing # etc.

There is one way to find out that has worked for me in the past. I sent an email asking where the item was located, or some sort of related question. Once they respond I then said I had a friend living in that town and they would come by and inspect. Then you never hear back from them...
