Hello from Muskoka Ontario. Just got a well used hay wagon that needs some love. What is best way to repair king pin housing bottom of bend that are rusting away on front of running gear? Best I can tell they look like cast but have more than one layer, sort of like a second skin wrapped over first layer on the bottom and going up sides. Name tag plate says Roadmaster, below that Model OL________? Then next line below says (only can read part or tag) Auto trac, Standard Pasture? Going to use it to pull winter wood over to my house deck to save my poor old back. Plan on leaving it on lawn beside deck for winter and save carrying wood up from basement. Any pictures of re-decking it would be much appreciated as would any advice. Thx

Sorry about lack of pictures. Old guy, that is not great on net . Started working on running gear last nite. What I found is, that there is a thick round shaft that is bent like an upside down J on the inside of layered metal covering. Stub part of axle goes on short end of J, and layered metal surrounds inside shaft, sort of like a banana skin over banana. Crappy example but best I can think of without pics. I have taken pictures as I am going along and will try to get my wife to help me post them. From what I can see, strength of king pin ( if you can call it that) is from the bent J not outside layers, which are not cast as I first thought, so can weld them up if need be. Not the best design cause water inside there probably caused the rust holes in them. Am going to end up with about 16 foot wagon due to length of rough cut hemlock stringers. Going to paint it Tremclad Red, and have wire brushed the metal parts with grinder. More to follow as I go.
