I personally use the Boeshield T-9 and the assocaited cleaner and since I started I havent had any rust on any of my tools. You can also find it at Sears in the tool section if you dont have a rockler near you.

Thank you everyone very much this has been a big help. I'm not as concerned about getting the rust off now, and will have great ideas for next year to try to prevent the rust. I read up on some of the suggestions and some stated that their product actually assist in moving the wood across the tables. I do get some hangup at times when it just seems hard to push through.

Thanks again.

On table saws in particular, I have de-rusted them with a knotted wire brush in a high-speed angle grinder. This leaves a very clean, smooth, shiny surface. I've generally followed up with light oil, well rubbed in. I recently tried boiled linseed oil on a very badly rusted old saw of a neighbor. Time will tell how well that works out.

Go to Fluid Film.com and you can send for a free sample. It would be more than enough to do a test on all your tools.

Thanks. I went to the site. looks like something that will keep the rust off after I clean it up this spring.

I would recommend cleaning it right away so that the rust does not go any deeper.

Or at least putting something on it to stop the progression awaiting your springtime project.

I ordered the T-9 today from Sears. They didn't have it in stock so they had to order it, but since they ordered it from the store there's no shipping to my door. Good deal.

My Only advice on the T9 is that is you are using the rust remover that comes with it think well ventilated area......I didn't open the garage door when I cleaned one of my tools and it will make your head hurt.

I have the same problem with rust on my tools. I put Formica on my table saw so it don't rust anymore. The other tools though still rusts. I don't have a ceiling in my shop and I think this is the source of the moisture. Some OSB or plywood under the trusses will stop all that. I hope. Just need the time to do it. Good luck.
