Hello All,

I started my Yanmar last night.........it started full blast and the only way i could shut it down was to pull the compression down....

Any ideas????

I was affraid it was going to blow>>>>>

Thank you.

I pulled off the inspection plate, but the only thing I can see is the linkage and a spring that goes toward the front of the engine. Could something have come unhooked???

Is there a way to check the connection or test it???

Thanks again.

I don't necessariliy know what is wrong, but perhaps you could post the tractor model and perhaps post a few photos.

Opps, sorry.
It's a 1500D, not 4 wheel drive.
2 cyl, i think 17hp.
Ran great up till last night. It started and wound up like an electric motor...

This response is pretty elementary since I know little about such things, but have you disconnected the linkage to the injection pump to see if that helps?

Also, did you have it idled down when you last killed it? I would check all of the linkages that contribute to fuel flow. Check the injection pump arm and see if it is in the idle position. Just get ready to quickly shut down if it starts to rpm up.

Wish I could help more, good luck.

Thank you all.

I took off the inspection plate and the spring to the linkage was hung up on the slide mounted to the inside of the block. I oiled it up and cleaned it the best I could, changed the oil and gave it a try. It ran rough for a little, but did idle.........I shut it down, started it again and it seems to be just fine. Thank you guys, you're a big help.
