Wife and I went to the dealer today to pick up some SUDT, had to check out the RTV and just drooled all over the thing. I think she wants one, and later as we were eating a burger in town I told her that I would get her that new dining room for christmas and she could get me the RTV, don't know if she'll go for it since there's about 7K difference in price. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Don't hurt to dream.

If you want a puppy, start by asking for a horse.

You didn't say what her response was to your offer.

Make a list of all the things you could do with the RTV. Things that are new or things that you can do more efficiently. A list of things you can do safer is probably the best list. Leave the list in a visible spot for her review/consideration.

BTW. If you do get it, save money for accessories. UTV's can/will suck your wallet dry with things to add.

I like the list idea, as she was checking it out, she noticed the shifter, gas pedal, brake pedal like a car, meaning easy to drive, I pointed out power steering, that raised an eyebrow. I think if I make a list of things that would be easier for HER to do and leave it laying around......
They wanted to get one out and let us take it for a drive around the place, we'll do that next time we just have to go by there to pick up a lynch pin or something that else like that, you know dealer only item. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Think of how much quicker you could get your work done and then work on the honey-do list. That should set her to thinking.

Interesting.

My wife is big into horses. She was using a wheel barrow quite a lot. My kids are into exploring. Our RTV turned into a family machine. I kind of pointed in the direction of a UTV of some sort. We ALL went out to the big three, and we ALL did the test drives.

The RTV was delivered a week later. My wife uses it exclusively to help her around the property. The combination of HST and power steering, and the hydo dump were unbeatable at the time. She liked the handling too. We have done quite a lot of team work, RTV and Tractor in moving stuff. Makes it fun, and we get to break a sweat together.

Of course she has to share it with the kids, they help out too doing the chores.

We knew we wanted this type of vehicle, but after we got it, we new we really needed it. It *is* a backsaver.

The RTV at my farm IS property of the Mrs! SHE uses it at every visit for something. Hauling top soil or mulch to the flower beds to a garden-gathering workhorse.

I'll hitch up the log splitter and take a ride into the woods returning with a load ready for the stove in the barn.

I have orders to widen the garden rows next year so the RTV will fit between the growing veggies. Sounds like a plan to me! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Also let your wife know how nice it is to have roll bars. By adding on the metal roof and windshield, the people in the RTV will be much safer while driving....the windshield also reduces the allergens and dirt that come into the main compartment. The power steering, brakes and hydro make it a dream to drive and it won't tire her out while she is doing the chores she enjoys doing....nothing is worse than pushing a wheelbarrow all day and it slowing you down from doing the things one likes to do....The rtv will give her alot of freedom and it is alot of fun to drive around the place like you would if you were in your teens......hope that helps and good luck....

If we get one, I'll definitely have to let her think it's hers and since she works four days a week that will work nicely since I'll have it those four days. I'm sure it would be used by both of us and we would both enjoy it a lot, but I am the one that is having trouble turning lose of that much money for one. I have noticed that some of the gas models have a list price of over 10k so if there is a utility vehicle in our future, it will definitely be the RTV. A friend has a Rhino and it is FAST, but two things I DON'T like about it for me, bed is too small and it has no differential so at every turn, one wheel rips up the grass and if loaded tends to push the front end, and no power steering, well that makes three things.

Karen, I'll certainly show her your response and maybe she'll wind up talking me into getting one by next spring before Kubota realizes that some of the gas models are as high as their diesels are, I still haven't gotten her over for the test drive yet, maybe drive one without the power steering then go drive the RTV, just in case I'm a hard sell /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
