According to the Deputy Sheriff it is a pretty stiff fine if you are caught relocating a pest animal in Kentucky. I have never heard of anybody getting caught and he didn't know of any either but he's only been on the job a couple months. Well, on this job, been a LEO for a while. He didn't know what the fine was but apparently there has been talk about it because so many around here are having trouble.

I am relatively certain that's how I get woodchucks here. It only happens occasionally and is only one animal. I'm finding it harder and harder to kill them as I get older- ever since I wounded one and listened to it crying as I walked back to the truck for another shell. One year I had a rat; I doubt that got here on it's own as you never have one rat.
I tried and tried to trap it but couldn't; then it disappeared.

Got a possum this morning. I don't shoot them. Except for a little digging they do no harm. So I will let it go in the back yard. Maybe keep it until this afternoon and let the neighborhood kids see it.

Nope, just hissing, spitting, and slobbering. Opened trap and thought the thing was never going to get out of it. They deserve their reputation of being dumber than a rock.
