I have an RSB1500 Tiller which came with my YM2220D tractor. I've had it a couple of years and have never used it. Was poking around it today, marvelling at all the things on it that I have absolutely no idea about how they work. Noticed one diagram that shows gauge wheels. I have the attachment tubes, but no wheel assemblies.

Does anyone know whether those assemblies might be available somewhere? Or even if they are a critical need? Or some dimensions so I can fabricate (or have fabricated) replacements.

I have the little, short PTO shaft along with the top link and bracket, if I can remember how they all hook up. Also, I understand the tiller connects up to the draft control. If I start asking all the questions in my mind about the care and feeding of this beast, you'll soon get tired of reading. So, does anyone know of a source for an owner/operator manual ? (English, please - I've forgotten everything I might have known about reading Kanjii.  )

Check with any of the dealers who participate in this forum for an owner's manual (and possibly a parts manual to help you figure out what everything is and where it's located). LMTC, Hoye, EFC or others may have the manuals you need.

They are really unnecessary. I have them and they're mounted upside down. I just use them for added weight.

I have the wheels on my tiller and have started using them. IMO you get a more level swath with the wheels contoling the depth. Also I use a lot of down spring pressure on the rear flaps.

I also wish I had more factory information on how to set up and use properly. Fortunately all the decals are still in place and I can read the dims for various adjustmants.

Bet you could find a set of wheels from one of the dealers here.

Would you like for me to post a close up pic of the rear of the tiller?

I use mine all the time. I tried mine without them and I had trouble controlling the depth. If I didn't have them I would be looking for a set. Any of the dealers here should be able to help you out. I wish I had the downforce springs for the rear flap.

Mickey - I'll listen to any advice, tips, or whatever and look at most any pictures that hint at a way of making effective use of that tiller.

I also note a slight disagreement relative to the use of Gage wheels. Looks like some consider them very useful, and others think them unnecessary. Could be different operating modes, different configuration tillers, or ... ???

I've been in communication with one dealer in re. Gage wheels and didn't receive much encouragement WRT finding a set.

Mine is pretty old and I've used it hard. One thing that helped, now that my soil is well worked, is that I had a neighbor fabricate a new rear flap out of 1/4 inch material. Leaves a nice flat bed behind the tiller.

I have the guage wheels and use them, never tried without them. Leaves you a nice edge to till to on the next pass.

Tom, here are a couple pics. Excuse the dust, dirt as the tiller was used a couple days ago.

The wheel carrige assy is adj up/dn to set heigth with relation to tiller depth. Wheel are about 12" dia made from 2 piece steel stampings made like a dish with one fitting inside the other. Can also see the mud scrapers for the wheels.

Last pic shows the wheel carrige assy at the piviot point and height adj. The lever can be pulled so wheels "free float" with respect to the tiller. On my tractor this is kind of hard to pull from the seat.

Depending upon ground conditions I really recommend the spring tension for the rear drags. Even with the pressure I use the ground is still about 2" higher than before tilling. The drag does a god job leveling the tilled soil.

Ask away if you have any ?'s
