KIOTI Ck2610 - doing dirt work and lifting ibc totes of wood, what type of RPMs should I be looking at?

   / RPM Question #3
Whatever it takes to do the work up to 540 RPM speed. If I'm doing work that is taxing my tractor at all, I crank it up. It doesn't hurt it, it's made to operate at long intervals at 540 RPM speeds

Though usually 2200 Is plenty

   / RPM Question #4
Are you just talking about FEL work when you say "dirt work", or are you running something like a tiller (pto driven)?

If it's just FEL work, I'd probably run 1600-1800, which would be enough to run the hydraulic pump enough to get full pressure and lift speed.

Since you don't have any emissions junk to worry about (me neither), I don't see the sense in running the engine at max rev's and just burning more fuel for no reason.

Yeah, mostly like bucket work, leveling a few spots off for IBC totes. I only have a bucket and forks so far, so no tiller or anything else. Strictly bucket to level some ground and store IBC totes of firewood

   / RPM Question #6
When I spend time moving the manure pile to the compost pile I run a few hundred RPMs off idle. Idles under 1000, I work at 1200 or so. Hydraulics work a bit better off idle.

   / RPM Question #7
I very rarely run my M9's at rated (540-1000 rpm). I gage my pto rpm by the task at hand actually but then I have plenty of power at the pto in the first place.... 93 on the stub.

   / RPM Question #8
Nobody asked this yet but is the tractor HST or Manual? With HST, you can run the rpm up to 540pto rpm since the tractor speed is independent from the engine rpm, but if it's manual, you may want to work a lower rpm to save from needing to slip the clutch for smooth operation. My DK4020 is manual and I keep the rpm around 1500-1700 when doing loader work. Works fine and is far more forgiving on the clutch than at 2600rpm.

   / RPM Question #9
One aspect I don't get concerned about as neither of my tractors have a clutch to worry about. Both hydraulic shuttle with wet clutch packs. Nice aspect of a hydraulic shuttle is the wet pack is self modulating, that is engagement is predicated on load entirely. My days of dry clutches and eventual replacement is long gone.

   / RPM Question #10
For loader work, it depends on how fast you want the loader to be. Sometimes I run the engine at PTO RPM (2500 on mine) to get the loader moving fast. Sometimes less rpms works fine.

   / RPM Question #11
PTO 540rpm is a recommended 2300 on my machine. I run 1500 min to drive around, 1800-2k for any light work.
I learned that higher revs result in more hydraulic power and longer intervals between regen.

   / RPM Question #12
for fel work, adj rpm to what will operate the the hyd flow to do the job. for earth or utility work, adj rpm that will do the task at hand without lugging engine, on the flip side, no need for excessive engine rpm unless needed

Retired tractor engineer here.

Power = Torque x rpm

The weak link on smaller tractors (especially with hst) is the transmission. High rpms dont hurt a thing. High torque is what causes wear and breakage. It is much better on your machine to error running high rpms during loading, lifting, ground engaging events to keep torque low. I run WOT when lifting my wood pods, mowing, and tilling etc.

   / RPM Question #14
For loader work on a non emissions tractor it really doesn't matter as long as you get enough to get ample fluid flow. It's really operator dependent and once you run it for a while you'll figure out your sweet spot. What fits everyone else may not fit you.
