Rounded off drain plug

/ Rounded off drain plug #1,843
Pipe wrench has been tried again and again, both by myself and two others more experienced. Same result each time, material being sheared off the plug. If that result is due to improper grip and/or operator error, that's down to the lack of clearance around the wrench adjustment knob itself.

In other news, made hay yesterday.

So pipe wrench is out. Dang, we have to think of something that will work.

Third season:thumbsup:

First that I've done 1: the whole field at once and 2: had 2 people on the wagon doing the hard work for me, until unloading it anyway:D

Now we know why you dont have time for the plug. No kicker, no accumulator? We had to update, no help to be found.

The material the plug was made of is the problem. When time and the work load allows remove the obstruction and drill a hole then make 2 cuts 180ー apart with a hacksaw blade then the 2 halves will come out.

Yup.

As for progress, no. Weather has kept us at bay. Hay wasn't quite dry so I've also been dealing with that, looking into options. Settled on spacing it out on it's side and spreading some fine salt on them.

Other news, picked 40 of the best bales out for a girl scouts camp for their horses. Discussed the option of making hay off the pasture once the horses are returned to owner at the end of July.

I had not heard of salting hay, would that really extract the moisture?

When i heard the suggestion, I googled 'salting stored hay' and started reading.

Makes me wonder about how well doing the same thing with different mineral blends for different animals might work.

Actually, kidding aside, in any of the now almost 2,000 posts has anyone suggested THIS? Which is forget getting that plug out.
It's stuck tight! However (drum roll please), pick out a spot close by...and drill/tap a new hole!!!!!
Better location...away from that bar in the way. Start small, then working up to the correct tap size...then let it drain!!!!!
Next day tap it! No mess, fluid is gone.
I'd tap it slowly, removing chips.
Then pour kerosene or other cleaner through. New tap.
Fat lady sings, curtain closes.
FINI
Fill the tap flutes with grease and the chips stay on the tap
