Rounded off drain plug

You're preaching to the choir...but not necessarily to the sophomoric (bed wetters) denizens of this thread...

You've not missed anything as long as you read significant posts up to where the pictures are attached...then it's just a bunch of rhetorical advise that is primarily spot on and then a bunch of off the wall useless suggestions (some of them dangerous) that are just plain stupid...The reason the thread is so long is there is a contingent of goofs that have made stupid jokes and references throughout...Methinks "the goofs" are intrigued by the fact that they themselves have been able to remove a drain plug (on their own) that they are just giddy...

Piney, have you not heard of Depends for adults?
They will keep you from waking up in a warm puddle!

I've never ever broken a quality pipe wrench even using a long pipe cheater bar. Today I removed a very tight plug with a small wrench which gives a better bite.
The plug came out fine, except I had a whoopsy afterwards. 20190527_224013.jpg

Piney does have a fascination for peeing, that much is obvious.

LMAO...Seems I have a talent for striking nerves...along with the power to elicit confessions from goofs that are in the habit of taking naps after they amuse themselves in a carnal nature...LoL...!

Kando...ignore the clowns...they're not even funny when they embarrass themselves...

Well at least piney refrained from talking about urinating this time. That is good news. I am guessing he is back to choking chickens? Two theme Piney.

Actually, kidding aside, in any of the now almost 2,000 posts has anyone suggested THIS? Which is forget getting that plug out.
It's stuck tight! However (drum roll please), pick out a spot close by...and drill/tap a new hole!!!!!
Better location...away from that bar in the way. Start small, then working up to the correct tap size...then let it drain!!!!!
Next day tap it! No mess, fluid is gone.
I'd tap it slowly, removing chips.
Then pour kerosene or other cleaner through. New tap.
Fat lady sings, curtain closes.

Unless there is a good boss somewhere proper, drilling and tapping a new drain hole could be problematic

I don't recall; and am not inclined to search 1800 posts. Does anyone recall if Kando or others mentioned what the sump material is? Sheet material or cast? Totally different approach. Are we back on track?

I am fairly sure it is cast iron based on the pic

Yes. It is the transmission, cast.

Post #36 shows the plug as well as a boss plate larger than plug, large enough to drill/tap either side of it.
Possibly another plate somewhere as well since picture only shows plug.
You could grind old plug flat, paint over it...out of site out of mind if you wanted.
He even mentioned the bar there "is easily removable" so plenty of room to work.
A two hour max job.

Kando will get it done. He simply has other life priorities. He just has more patience than most of us, and a better sense of humor than some of us,

Perhaps he is out visiting his brother, Sparc? :)

Me... I'd remove that bar that's in the way.
Grind the old plug even with plate. Center punch it. Drill stepping up in size. After draining I may try drill, tapping it same size...but probably next size larger.
This may have been suggested before.

If he had removed the bar in the first place this thread would have died a year ago... and he would probably be changing the fluid again.
