Rounded off drain plug

Many posters don't pay any attention to what's been said in the past, they just post their latest thought! Or maybe their reading comprehension is lacking.

Or both.

One reason many don't bother reading a lot of posts before commenting is too many idiotic goofball posts to wade through...

Thank you.

I didn't pay any attention to this thread when I saw it in the index until it was over 500 posts. Then I got (mildly) curious.

Did I miss anything by not going back and reading the first 500 posts to catch up?

:)

I vote for a brass plug but let's make it more interesting for next time.

Yes that should do it. Especially the first one.

Heck...I think it went a few months without the drain plug even being mentioned...!...every once in a while someone would ask if there was any update on the topic of the original post...

I get the feeling there's some inertia going now and Kando is feeling his oats. That plug's days might be numbered.

Due to previous attempts chewing up the surface I haven't been able to get a solid grip. Too much metal scraped around, and it tends to grip onto that and just scrape it off. Creating my own flat surface should help. The original plugs are solid, the brass replacements I bought from Napa are hollow.

Pics for reference.

The brass should not seize, especially with some teflon. Being hollow I guess you could hacksaw it off and use a big ez out next time its stuck.

I'm wondering if a 3/4 pipe thread drain hole could be re-tapped for a 1-14 bolt with a copper washer.
