I have a Hinomoto E 222 with a 3 cylinder diesel engine. For a while now it's been running rough like the engine is flooding, and seems to smoke quite a bit. I've heard that the fuel injector pump can be timed, and if it's out of timing, would it cause the problem I'm having? If anyone one has done this before, would you mind filling me in on how to do it?
Is there anything else that can cause these symptoms?

Thanks in advance,
Dennis

The injector pump can't get out of time unless it is removed. You could have low compression or coolant mixing with fuel either of which can be caused by a bad head gasket or cracked head.

Have you changed air or fuel filters lately? I'd make sure they are clean.
