Rototiller vs buried objects

I was rototilling a friends yard and was moving right along when I heard a loud bang and the slip clutch started slipping. Then the motor started bogging down and I'm thinking "boy something must be wrapped up or wedged tight in the tiller". I shut everything off and my friend asked what I hit and I said I don't know, but somethings wedged up tight.

He took a look before I got off the tractor and I asked what it was. I still had my ear plugs in and all I heard was "wedged tight" and I'm thinking "ya, I know". When I get down to look, sure enough, there's a monster wood splitting wedge stuck between a tine and the frame. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif A few taps with a hammer and I was back in business. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Did your agreement for rotilling include salvage rights for any found objects? Unfortunately, all I ever find is rocks.

Nope, no damage. I had the slip clutch set a tad loose, so it started slipping right away and prevented any damage.

As soon as his kids saw what we found, they started talking about finding buried treasure /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I never thought to ask if I could have it as a souvenier /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I've had a few rocks jam things up before, just recently I
discovered a few pieces of 5/8 inch rebar and soem old tomato
cages, all left by the previous owners, the mower never found them
because everything was flattened, I didnt even have time to shut
the PTO down before the rebar and cages were wrapped in the tines

it definately made for a long day of work.
