Rotary Cutter Gear box repair/replace?

Does anyone have a clue as to what brand this gearbox may be or what I need to know to replace and or repair it? My best guess is that it is the same make and model year as the tractor, Case 1987 but I can not find any markings on it anywhere other than what appears to be a 23 on the side of the gearbox near the input.

Probably a Bushhog 406. What's wrong with it?

I haven’t pulled anything off as of yet to investigate but the shaft just spins and blades do not. It came with the tractor I just bought and the previous owner didn’t know either

When you open the gearbox, you should find some part numbers stamped on the gears. That should determine who made the box

Depending on what you find when you get into the gearbox/parts availability/etc., Surplus Center sells complete gearboxes for rotary cutters
