just got my new bx25 and i've pulled out some big stumps and a giant rock. only problem is now how do i move them? stump won't fit in the bucket and the rock is also too big and definately too heavy. i'm new to this but having fun. do you also wish you had more tractor?

enjoy the forum

Get a big honkin chain and tie it around the stump or rock and drag it, is what seems most do......:D

agree with the drag, and be sure to chain it as low as you can in the back, preferably on the drawbar. there is a whole set(s) of posts on not putting your chain too high. you kind of get it from experience but best not to drag real heavy items chained to bucket also.

congratulations and have fun and be safe with your new tractor.

thanks for the replies.i thought a chain was the way to go. not sure where the draw bar is but i'll figure it out. i'm alittle anxious about some implements for it. what do you think are the most fun, essential tools. i'm just digging up the yard so far. i've only got about an acre of land but i'm surrounded by woods so alittle expedition may be in order.
thanks again

I added forks to the bucket on my B21. I found that when I had the forks under a stump or rock that if it would not lift it I could push it around on top of the forks. I pushed a lot of stumps to and up the burn pile this way.

Steve,

the drawbar is located just below the rear PTO. you may only have a drawbar "holder" and may need to get one and attach. some folks will put a ball hitch on one of the holes to drag trailers, wood splitters, etc. just grabbed this pic from web, but it shows a drawbar without a ball.

Just be REALLY careful driving over loose branches if you don't have a full skid plate...You don't want to have to mess with that HST fan.

Enjoy the BX25, great little machine. At times you may want more tractor, but the tight maneuverability of the BX25 will make you think again.

just checked, no drawbar or skid plate. i was looking at the hst post. my bx25 has 3 bars infront of the fan. maybe i got a leftover model. did any of them come with a skidplate?
thanks

Just watch dragging them, if they start to roll things could get ugly. I often push the big ones with the Front end loader and sort of roll them them with a forward while lifting motion.
B careful and have fun!

Stevess- you can pretty much drag anything or roll with the BX. If the rock is lets say, big as a car, then yeah its too big for BX ;) . What I would do is dig deeper next to rock and try to drag/push it in. If it doesnt work, then dexpan will.:D

A number of years back, there was a rock sticking out of the ground that my wife wanted me to dig up and move to the front yard. Of course, what was sticking out was just the tip of the ice burg. The rock was too big to lift or drag, but I was able to dig under it enough to get a couple of big planks under it. I had to winch it out of the hole, but once is was on level ground I could just barely drag it with the tractor. Still had to use the winch to make turns, but I finally got it where she wanted it.

And really, isn't the point of having a tractor so that you can do impossible tasks for your wife??? :p

When dragging heavy objects fill the bucket with rocks. That will give more traction and help keep the front end down.:D

With a large heavy object chained to the tractor be very leery of going downhill. The rock/log can roll to the side and pull the tractor with it.

Many folks make up a frame for the three point hitch that has places for chain hooks and trailer hitches etc. There are some threads covering them.

I also bolted some truck springs to the bucket to act as forks and added a extended frame to stop logs etc. from rolling back in my lap.
pictures attached.

thanks for all the advise. i like the idea of the stone boat, will look into it. being a car guy all my life i was alittle leary about getting the tractor all scratched up. do you guy's still cringe when you hear that loud scrape?

Some of the BXs are now showing up with Kubota OEM skid plates. If yours doesn't have one, you can get your dealer to order it. It's inexpensive at $35, but doesn't seem too robust and won't protect from a punctured HST filter.

You can read about the new fan protector here: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/155254-kubota-should-just-do-right.html

You can buy true mid/rear and front skid plates here: Bro-Tek: Tractor Add Ons

All kinds of stuff gets called drawbars. That looks like the drawbar from a park train I used to drive (with the pivoting mount). The pipe used to tow planes from the front wheel uses the same term.

I think most people here use the term for a horizontal member mounted on the 3PH:

Put a clevis through one of the holes, hook on your chain and PULL :)

I also built a sled. Just an old piece of plywood with a 2x6 screwed to one end and eye-hooks thru the 2x6. It was royal pain to get the stump on the thing, but did a lot less lawn damage dragging to the burn pile. (Have also used it when cleaning out ditches along my driveway with a backhoe. Made it relatively easy to move the spoil out without making a mess.) It wore out pretty fast, but did what I wanted.

Glad you read the HST protection issues threads. The BX, sitting rather low to the ground is one thing, having its HST fan and its fluid filter sitting in a vulnerable place are the additional concerns. An informed BX operator takes these things into account when doing heavy work on rough terrain.
