I have a 2007 Ferris IS2000, 61" cut, 532 hours. For years I have wanted to get something for sun protection. I am now trying to mow only when the grass is dry and that means full sun so this may be the year I get the canopy. I would not mind something umbrella-like but I have not even seen one for Ferris. Does anyone have experience with the Rhinohide? I would be interested, probably, in the easy on/off model. From the pictures it looks like it would only serve its purpose when the sun was directly overhead, so if you mowed in the afternoon and the sun was getting lower the canopy would not help that much. Any suggestions appreciated. For years I have worn a long sleeved sun-shirt, leather gloves and a widebrimmed Solumbra hat when I mow, and would more-than-likely still wear them even if I got a canopy.

Well Nancy,
I looked at the Rhinohide site and apparently there products only work/attache to the ROP's frame. If yours has that, then it may work, but like you said, it's just overhead and will do nothing for morning or evening mowing.

Keep looking. You will need something that will have sides and a front and back that will come down to eye level. That may restrict entering the seat, but will be good to keep the sun out.

I just googled sun canopy for zero turn mowers

sun canopy for zero turn mowers - Google Search

There seems to be many options and prices available. Always possible that if you don't find exactly what you want that you could fond something close and modify it when you get it.

I believe the mower you have has a ROPS.

"something that will have sides and a front and back that will come down to eye level."
What a great idea. Wonder if I could fashion a frame out of pvc pipe that could attach to my ROPS(which I always have down), then figure a way to attach some sort of sun barrier to the pvc? That what I need, a summer project that may or may not be doable.

"There seems to be many options and prices available" I have not seen any that I would consider, they all look too small or not adjustable.

Your mention of pvc pipe reminded me of this thread: https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/build-yourself/425970-poor-mans-canopy.html

I like that persons thinking. The thumbnails were great once I zoomed in on them. Food for thought.
Thank you for linking that thread.

I wonder why so many, almost all, of these covers are black?

A lighter color couldn't cost that much more and seems like it would be cooler.

Everyone knows not to wear a black cap or shirt in the summer while working outside.

This from the Farm and Trail website: "This easy to install canopy, is made from rugged, lightweight outdoor ABS Plastic and is currently available in four colors: Black, Gray, Green and Orange. The one wrench install is made possible by the durable steel, black powder coated bracket which is rust and scratch resistant. "
Looking at other websites for this canopy, they all advertise Black. Wonder if the top could be spray painted to be more reflective.

In the Specifications it says this can be tilted, I would like it if it could be tilted a tad down in front, especially for late afternoon mowing.

I got lucky and bought an aluminum canopy made for a tractor, on craigslist. I put it on the ROPS slightly tilted:

With use it got "tilted" more :D. Does a good job on the late afternoon sun:
