I recently purchased a nice BX2230. I have noticed that many of the light assemblys mounted at the base of the ROPS on these machines end up broken. The first time out mowing I almost broke one while manuvering around trees. I am wondering if anyone has reversed the mounting brackets and remounted the lights to the inside of the ROPS? Does anyone know if this light wiring has service connectors? Thanks for any help.

I'm guessing they mount them this way so the flashers can be seen from the front of the tractor. If you flip them, they will be hiden somewhat from the front

The only time i had this problem is 1 time when I knocked a lense off when mowing to close to the house,
Decided to solve the problem by staying another inch or 2 away from the house then use the trimmer .
No big deal since i already have to use the trimmer along the house anyhow after mowing.

I've broken a couple of these myself and used the ones from TSC, around $6.00 to replace them. Lots cheaper than from the dealer, TSC also has the lenses. They are in a vulnerable spot but haven't decided what to do about that yet.

Mine are mounted high up on the ROPS. Have bumped them on tree branches, but never broke one . I turned the brackets around to the inside and mounted them inside the ROPS. No problem since, but time will tell. Still could hit a stiff limb and break one being higher. I watch them around my trees. hjt

Never once in 220 hours, which includes mowing in and amongst a great many trees, have I had a problem. Don't have many protuding limbs at lens-level, though.

I will say that use of the BH6000 backhoe makes relocating the signals inside the ROPS impossible. It's already tight enough in there when the seat is turned around.

I'm not sure if it wouldn't be easier to fab a small steel guard to go around the light.

Most guys install lights either above or under the ROPS ; but few if any think of the 3rd place that might be better and that's behind the ROPS.
