Reverse Osmosis Recommendations????

Most systems can be mounted just about anywhere you would like, although, the closer to the faucet location, the better. You may want to look into a system with a DI stage as well with the reverse osmosis unit, as this was suggested by the EPA as the best available method for removing all radiation from the water. After Fukishima, I got a reverse osmosis system with DI here, Maximus II 6-Stage Reverse Osmosis RO/DI System - $182.15. Their filters are inexpensive, and haven't had any issues as of yet.

Like AchingBack, I have an APEC RO system. It's been in for 8 years I think. I've changed the filters 3 times and I pre-filter with a couple whole house filters. I'm on my own well. It's plumbed to the refrig and a spigot on the counter. I'm very happy with this system. I also have the Ultraviolet filter. It costs a bit more, but I figure it's worth the money to avoid possibly getting ill. The only thing I would change is storage capacity. RO is good for fish tanks and that's what I use to top off/exchange water. Because of this, I run out of water when I would like to have more. I never had this issue before we added the fish tank tho.

As I previously mentioned DO NOT get a DI unit. There are many studies of long term detrimental effects of drinking deionized water. Here is an article that sums it up decently. Early Death Comes From Drinking Distilled Water

Thanks for all of the opinions - I couldn't believe how many systems are out there. I ended up with a APEC system designed for wells (30-50 psi) systems. Should be here next week and will install it then. These are more expensive then some of the other systems but the reviews on their systems and customer support is excellent. All made in the US and with USA filters - plus I do not want to have a system that leaks.

Two thumbs up. My APEC system has worked flawlessly for many years. The water tastes great. My unit is also on a well. I have extremely hard water, high calcium and iron content. I have one filter before my Kinetco softener and the APEC unit after it. I've not yet had to replace the membrane. I'm certain you'll be happy.

What an extreme title to an article that has no proof of anything. Reads like the national enquirer
The point I was attempting to make was that there is evidence of health problems and while that article while in itself is not a technical paper, does a decent job explaining to the layman. You are welcome to explore the references and other scientific studies on the subject if you want to question DI ingestion over long periods of time. I was only trying to advise people that may be unaware of the potential for bodily harm. I have an RO/DI unit and storage system for purifying water for a reef aquarium and although I would love to be able to also utilize it for drinking water... I don't because of the risk. Again, not trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. If you want to... then look somewhere else for an argument.

Hi, I am looking at the same system, would you please provide a review when you get it installed and working for a while.

Thank you
