Ford 4610SU; Sold my Kubota BX-22
Anyone have experience retrofitting a John Deere loader onto a Ford Tractor? I have a Ford 4610SU and am looking at a John Deere 400x loader. Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks.

I have a 4610SU. If I wanted to add a loader I would stick with a Ford loader designed for that tractor. You would need to get brackets fabbed up for your SU to work with the 400X loader. If clearance was not an issue it could be made to work.

The SU has a swept front axle and not the best option for a loader. They typically don't stand up to heavy abuse as well as the straight front axles. Last year we sold our old 861 with Ford loader that we used for over 20 years loading round bales. It has the swept front axle. Those bales were made from an old New Holland chain baler. Pop never over stressed the tractor and took it real easy with it. With that said the king pins and bushings were completely worn out and the front axle was cracked. I would estimate that those bales weighed in the neighborhood of 600#-800#.

It's your tractor and if you want to do it go for it. Just wanted to give you an honest opinion.
