Retrofit Cruise Control

Is it possible to add cruise control to a tractor with hydrostatic transmission? Is there a kit? The tractor is a JD 4115. When I bought it I didn't think I'd be spending so much time at constant speeds (mowing, spreading, etc.)

Does this unit not have a stick throttle? How do you accelerate, I realize you can go faster forward/reverse by how much you push HST pedal, but I would think engine speed would be controlled by throttle.

I think he's looking for a kit to hold the hydro pedal not the throttle control.

If your rig had cruise as an option I'm sure it could be added now. Most are just a simple electromagnet device.

There is a stick throttle that controls engine rpm, but transmission speed is controlled by the HST pedal. Cruise was not an option when I bought it a few years ago, and the dealer says no Deere retrofit kit. I was just wondering if there is an aftermarket kit.

They are electromagnetic, eh? Do they work on the pedal itself (i.e., holding it down with a strong magnetic pull), or on some dog inside the transmission? If the latter, probably would need to be transmission-specific.

My 4110 has mechanical CC standard, was not an option. I thought the 4115 was the same? Aren't there 2 red handles under the steering wheel? the one on the left is the parking brake, and the one on the right is the CC...

No problem! Do you have the manual for your tractor?

The real travesty of this story is that you asked your dealer, and he said there was no "retrofit" kit. He did not know is was already on there

Yeah, the manual...lots of warnings and danger symbols...it lost me. Its right there on the shelf, in the weekend place where my tractor is. But I admit I should have seen or at least been curious about that red handle.

I asked in an abstract way, like, can cruise be retrofitted to a tractor that didn't come with it? I never mentioned the model, and the shop guy didn't ask. But my assumption was wrong to begin with. You know what they say...
