Needless to say I was scared to death!

I got down and inspected things and found that the bolt that connects the Lifting Rod to the Lower Link had lost its retaining pin and fallen out!

Fortunately I found the bolt in the dirt and there appeared to be no damage to the tractor or BB. It took some creative thinking to get things straightened out and reconnected.

After getting that sorted out I decided to inspect all of the retaining pins on the tractor. Sure enough I found another one missing in the same general area!

Fortunately I was able to replace both before any damage to the tractor ocurred. What has me really surprised is that these are numbers 3 and 4 that I have lost in the last two months.

Last month I lost two of the ring type pins. One that held one of the FEL bucket bolts in and the other on the landscape rake connection to the Lower Link.

I didn't kow these pins came out so easily. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I can tell you that from now on I will check them constantly!

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Yes, and those who have not had similar problems probably will some day. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Oh my yes! Everyone eventually does unless you tie the locking pins on with some wire.

You know how they feel when you snap the pin back and forth, and it seems that they shouldn't have any problem, but imagine the forces that can be exerted on those clips when you're working in dirt, or woods and something gets pushed just right up against it. Then, they are not so strong as they feel to you, and out they come.
I've lost count of most of them I've lost, but I'll list a few for you so that you don't feel so bad.
Lost the lynch pin that hold the ROPS pin in place, twice, probably from a limb in the woods grabbing it and running away, Lost the FEL clips on tow pins, one on each side, lower, just replaced them, and lost one the first time out after replacing, lost the same pin the hitch arm that you did while I was ripping some garden spot with the boxblade, same one you have, and on and on.
When will I learn to tie them on with some wire? Usually I find one out, put another in, and tell myself I'll tie it up later when I'm finished working. I never have yet!
All of this is why I have a large bag of various pins, but the FEL lynch pins are a little different than the others and my dealer, www.bigtractorsupply.com gave me two the other day. I should have bought a BAG of those too since it seems I'm not going to secure them on better!
Have fun chasing pins. They're are powers out there that we just don't understand at times. I think it's the aliens!

Marv,

Yep, in my first 18 hrs, managed to loose a ROP's spring/pin, the draw bar pin, and 2 scarfer pins that were just stuck thru empty scarfer bar holes above the top of the Box blade. Replaced the draw bar pin with a llocking type so mabe i'll get 19 hrs outa that /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif! These things need aircraft twist wire on just about everything /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif!

I safety wired my loader, looks like I should do the same in back. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Since I never have to remove those two pins, I think I'll replace mine with bolts and nylon locking nuts.
Thanks for the heads-up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
