Restoring Gravely L8

After many years of fairly responsible storage I am planning to put our Gravely L8 back in service. An initial malfunction has been an intermittent failure of the chain driven "pulley" to engage. Is this a difficult repair?

To further explain the problem this is the chain from the starter motor to the sprocket that should engage in the clockwise direction to crank the engine and then run free when the engine starts.
