What is the best way to clean out the reservoirs of a slime like substance?

Our public water supply reservoir had a bunch slime and we put grass carp in it. They cleaned it up and no problem since.

I just bought one on Amazon for $13…like a reverse grease gun let’s you suck the old junk out of (e.g.,) a gear box or other with no drain port at bottom. Good YouTube video on changing oil in bush hog gear box shows same tool. The stuff in my gearbox no longer resembled oil! More like a milky goop.

I've used diesel fuel to cut the slime and flush it out the drain plug.
I had one transmission/rear axle I used Dawn dishsoap and a pressure washer on first then the diesel fuel.
