Need to replace the motor on my chipper . It is a Briggs 800 series . Having a heck of a time locating specs for shaft size , key way etc.. The model numbers on the valve cover does not bring up any luck on all the sites I致e tried . Also can稚 tell if it has gear reduction or do I really need it. The unit belonged to my father-in-law who passed five years ago . The chipper model Is CST 800. Looking for advice on what motor I can put it . Trying to stay low on cost , a new comparable chipper is around $800 . Wouldn稚 be cost effective to spend more than $300 on a motor . I have over five acres so I burn too and chipping/mulching is more of a convenience.
Thanks .

Have you tried contacting DR directly, they should have those specs, and probably have replacement motors. Good luck

You can pull the engine off and measure the shaft size . Hf sells cheap engines ...

If the output shaft does not align with the crankshaft it has a reduction gear.

So I called dr and they could only give me key way specs , 1/4 x1 1/2 . I’d like to go with an hf motor, cost wise , but it looks like it is too short and squat hitting the mulched hopper chute . I may be stuck with a Briggs replacement. $$$

I checked out the hf motor . I think the 3/4 shaft is a match but the key is 3/8 . Everywhere I turn I may be stuck with $$$$

Could you post the model type and code from the engine and I will see what I can find for specs. Should be located on the side of the valve cover.
