When I changed the filter on the 3400 it came out like there was no tomorrow.. I ended up hooking up the shop vac hose to the fill opening to draw a suction on the system like someone else here mentioned. Worked quite well, I didn't lose much after that.

Now over 40 hours & looking toward 50 hour maintenance.
One problem, I hate wine. :( What can I do?
Oh, wait ... wife volunteered to drink the wine!
Now, where was that JT photo step-by-step process?

Wait a minute. That cork needs to be the giant diameter kind, not all that common. The diameter needs to be an inch and taper down to 7/8. As JohnThomas found out, if it the standard 7/8" with one end tapered to 3/4", it will be too small. Just sayin'.

BTW, Messicks.com has a terrific, step by step, photo tutorial. Easy.
When you remove the keeper bolt (10 or 12 mil, if memory serves) you are left with rocking that screen out. The head of the screen is about 1.25" in diameter. I personally found using a pair of toothless channel locks allowed me to rotate the head nicely. Once loosened, it sort of rocks and pulls out. Others use a screw driver to pry it out. Each to his own. I prefer the less dangerous method.

12MM keeper bolt. I needed to wrap more black tape around the taper to make it big enough.

My wife tells me they don't sell wine with big corks any more, converted to plastic. Maybe my thumb is big enough? 44.1 hrs ... soon!

The thumb will work as long as you just plan on pulling it out, looking at it with one hand or having someone else clean it and then remove thumb and stick it back in. That's what I did only I was alone.:) Or if you have a third thumb. I think a papertowel or rag twisted up to be round will do the job, there's no real pressure on it.
