No no your air in the tire needs to be changed each season it is holding your tractor up 24/7 so it gets tired/worn out. Just deflate/reflate when the times changes just like your smoke detector batteries!!!! Mine on bx-23 is left finally slimmed it last weekend.

Ok got it stargazer. Does it need to be Kubota branded air?? or can you use generic air??

/ REPLY FROM KUBOTA CONCERNING 50 HOUR FLUID CHANGES #73
Well I guess if you use udt the generiac will be ok. If'n you use SUDT why not spring for the premium KUBOTA air?

JT, cork lesson:D:D

Get a cork, a large diameter from some wine bottles. 1" or so in diameter. Using a utility knife, shape one end with a little taper. When you pull the screen, have a pan under there, because you will lose 1/2 pint, but no big deal. DO LEAVE the dip stick in place Actually the vacuum holds the fluid in pretty good. If you pulled the dipstick, you would have a place for the make up air to enter, which would speed the leaking.

Anyhow, carefully pull the screen. Have cork plug (or tapered rubber) ready and stick it in. You now can take your time about gently cleaning the screen.

That's the trick. Simple and efficient.

The taper is cool because it mean you don't have to have a "perfect" fit. It does need to be approx 1" tapering down to 7/8" or so.
I've had a bottle of wine in my fridge for a couple of years. can't hardly take the taste of the stuff but someone gave it to me. Now it or the cork will have some value to me. I searched and found the other post for the 3/4" so I'm going to have a couple of corks and maybe get rid of this nasty tasting stuff.:)

Stange, I have a BX2350 turf tires and the left front has a slow leak. I finally got tired of it and slimed it a couple of weeks ago. As of yet I don't know if that helped or not. I also got my manual from the old stack, that says change the tranny fluid at 50 hours. I don't buy into John Thomas theory, but I guessing that they have a problem area on the rims.
My problem is about to be resolved with my slow leaking right front tire on my BX2660. Talked to Gray (parts man at Barlows) and told him to file me a warranty claim for a new tire or tube it. He said go ahead and tube it and they will pay. Here it is on it's way to being tubed. When I get it fixed I will be quitting the "one front tire has slow leak on BX Club", you guys will just be an old memory. I couldn't budge the bolts to remove it with my socket wrench so I finally got out my new air wrenchs and Wow! I hit the trigger and the bolt was off almost before I could let go. I'm now an air wrench believer.:)
I also did my fifty hour service today of replacing oil, oil filter and transmission filter.

I realize this thread is a bit old however I just thought I'd post Kubota's "offical" responce to my question.

From Kubota:
There will be some oil loss when the filter is removed. If you use a clean
container to catch it, it can be reused. Most people just replace the
filter, catch the oil that is lost which shouldn't amount to much then
discard the small amount that is lost.

Or you can drain the oil in the transmission into a clean container, change
the filter, then put the oil back in.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Your Original Inquiry:

Hi,

I am planning to do the 50 hour maintenance however I notice in the manual
it states to change the Hydro Filter only and not the Hydro Oil. Can you
tell me how per the manual I am suppose to do this being the Hydro oil will
likely run out once the old filter is removed?

I assume I can try and change it "quickly" and lose a little oil but
realistically that isn t going to happen.

Thanks!

That is a realistic response though. I did my L3400 and lost about a quart and I'm too old and clumsy to be real fast.

I lost maybe a cup on the filter and didn't have to be fast, it came out of the filter, don't think any came out of the tractor. Lost half a qt checking screen because my self made plug was to small:), threw away and topped off with about a half quart SUDT from the qt bottle. It's a real simple job.
