I have a LB1914, with a electrical problem. The Alternator light comes on at working RPMS. When the unit is shut down the oil & Alt light up dim. I am at a loss.
I can't find a manual for this machine (Kioti is out!)
Any ideas?

Is your battery holding a charge? Regulators tend to go bad from time to time.

I just went out and looked at a LB1914 on my lot to make for sure, but the oil and alt light should light up when the engine is turned off and the key is on. The oil light is brighter than the Alt when you turn the key off. Alt light should go off when engine is started though. What year tractor is this?

I'd try disconnecting the battery after you start the tractor to see if it continues to run off the alternator. If not, get the alt. checked. You are probably only running on the battery. John

The 1914 only has 75 hours on it, it is two years old.
When I removed the Neg Battery cable the tractor continued to run fine. BUT, now the Alt light stays on and when the tractor is shut down, and the key is OFF Both Alt & Eng light is on real dim. The selling dealer is gone, but said it is a Old Style Kubota. Will a Kubota service manual be the same? Is it designed after a Kubota?

They are not designed after Kubota. The two companies are not related in anyway, so service manuals are not the same. The dealer was just telling you a tall tale that is just not ture. The engine should run fine with the negative battery cable off as it is a diesel and doesn't require the battery to run. Removing the battery cable or running the engine with the key off can cause damage to the electrical system of the tractor though. It sounds to me like you need to replace the regulator on your tractor. It is located up on the inside of the firewall.

I would double check all the ground wires.

That's a good way to blow the rectifier (big diodes) in the alternator. Furthermore this would prove nothing; Diesels run quite happily with zero electricity except where the shutoff solenoid is spring loaded to shut off the fuel when power drops (some newer ones work this way).

This sounds like you finished frying the alternator. You probably had a sick voltage regulator initially and you probably also have a sick rectifier (diodes) too now.

At this point I'd advise taking the alternator to your nearest Autozone, Advanced Auto, etc. and get it checked out (they'll do it for free). Be sure to disconnect the battery negative cable (with the engine OFF) before you remove the alternator.

I gotta start looking at the date vs just seeing a "new"post! Thanks Murph.
