Removing Fence Posts

Roy ... How about this option. Leave the posts in, attach fencing and raise some livestock. This will give you even more uses for your new tractor. ;o)

Oh yeah ... when you build the barn, make sure you design in a nice garage area for your tractor and the numerous implements.

I used the method similar to above of pulling the post out with chain attached to the hooks welded on the bucket and using the curl or rollback to ease the post out of the ground. It worked pretty well to pull up 8 foot 4X4s with about 2 bags of concrete around the bottom.

Hi ya
yep for a small tractor that is the best way useing the 3 point linkage .haveing 2 people is handy too .if pulling out a old line one backs up the other wraps a chain around the post once out ya can put old post on FEL or toss to the side to pick up latter ..also light loaders could be bent by lifting on one side only if useing a FEL try to pull in the center of bucket .you will also find the 3 pl will lift maybe 2-3 times what ya loader can i know my loader is rated at 2.3 ton and 3 pl is 8 ton i know what one i'd use for those hard to pull posts ..even with that lifting power i still have had to dig posts out ..
catch ya

When I first move "to the country" I helped my father in law pull fence posts in a similar fashion. Instead of a single board, he had a crossbuck with a spreader at the bottom, the chain laid in the knotch at the top of the crossbuck. The advantage is that the chain can't slip off the board or the board can't tip over. Popped them posts out easily.
